Scanning for and cleaning malware with Imunify360

Imunify360 checks your files for malware automatically. It scans new and changed files as they're uploaded. It also scans your whole account regularly. You can also check the results and run a scan yourself.

Opening Imunify360

  1. Log in to DirectAdmin.
  2. Go to Extra Features and click Imunify360.
  3. Open Malware Scanner.

What you'll see

Tab What it shows
Malicious Files where malware has been found. You can also start a scan here.
Scan Your recent scans and their results
History Everything that's happened, including scans, clean-ups and restored files
Ignore List Files and folders you've excluded from scanning

Proactive Defense is a separate section that shows suspicious scripts Imunify360 has stopped from running.

Running a scan

On the Malicious tab, click Start scanning. Larger accounts can take a while to scan.

Dealing with an infected file

Imunify360 may clean infected files automatically. For any remaining files, use the actions beside each one:

  • Clean up removes the malicious code and keeps the rest of the file. This is the right choice for most files.
  • Restore puts back a clean copy of the file from a backup, where one is available.
  • View shows the file's contents.
  • Add to Ignore List stops the file being flagged again. Only use this if you're sure the file is safe. If you're not sure, ask us first.

After malware has been found

Malware usually gets in through outdated software or a stolen password, so cleaning the files isn't enough on its own. Follow the steps in What to do if your website has been hacked to close the gap it came in through.

If you're unsure about a result, open a Technical Support ticket and we'll take a look.
