How PaduHost protects your website (Imunify360, CloudLinux and KernelCare)

Your hosting account is protected by several layers of security that work in the background. Here's what each one does.

Protection What it does for you
Imunify360 A web application firewall that blocks common attacks, real-time malware scanning, blocking of known malicious IP addresses and protection against password-guessing attacks
CloudLinux Keeps each hosting account isolated from the others. Your files can't be seen by other customers. A busy or compromised website on the same server can't slow yours down.
KernelCare Applies security updates to the server's core (the kernel) without restarts, so fixes are in place quickly with no downtime
Free SSL certificates Encrypt the connection between your website and your visitors. See Free SSL certificates (Let's Encrypt).
Monitoring We monitor our servers and publish their status at status.paduhost.com

Security is shared

We look after the servers. You look after what runs on your account. The most common causes of hacked websites are outdated software and weak or reused passwords, so these steps make the biggest difference:

  • Keep WordPress, plugins and themes up to date. See Keeping WordPress, themes and plugins up to date.
  • Use strong, unique passwords for DirectAdmin, the Client Area, email accounts and WordPress. A password manager makes this easy.
  • Turn on two-factor authentication wherever it's available. See Turning on two-step authentication in DirectAdmin and Turning on two-factor authentication for your Client Area.
  • Remove software you don't use, including old plugins, themes, test sites and staging copies.
  • Only install plugins and themes from trusted sources. Pirated ("nulled") themes and plugins often contain malware.
  • Keep your own backups. See Creating and downloading a backup in DirectAdmin.
  • Keep your own computer secure, with up-to-date software and antivirus, as passwords are often stolen from infected devices.
