Restoring from a backup

You can restore your website, email or databases from our daily backups or from a backup you made yourself.

Restoring replaces what's there now. Anything added or changed since the backup was made, such as new orders, posts or emails, will be lost. If in doubt, create a backup of your account as it is now before restoring.

Restoring your own DirectAdmin backup

  1. If the backup is on your computer, upload it to the backups folder with File Manager or FTP.
  2. Log in to DirectAdmin.
  3. Go to Advanced Features and click Create/Restore Backups.
  4. Choose to restore a backup and select your backup file.
  5. Tick the items you want to restore, such as website data or email.
  6. Click Restore.

The restore runs in the background. DirectAdmin sends you a message when it's finished.

Restoring from our daily backups

We keep daily backups of your account for 30 days. You can restore from them yourself:

  1. Log in to DirectAdmin.
  2. Go to Extra Features and click JetBackup.
  3. Choose what to restore, such as your full account, your files, a database or an email account.
  4. Choose the backup date and start the restore.

You'll receive a message when the restore is finished.

Prefer us to do it? Open a Technical Support ticket with the date and what you need restored. We usually complete restores within one working day. The first restore we carry out for each service in a calendar month is free. Each further one that month costs RM30, invoiced before the restore. Restores you do yourself in the control panel are free and unlimited. Email hosting has no self-service restore, so we carry out those for you. See Our backup policy.

After restoring

  • Clear your website's cache and check that everything works.
  • If you restored because your website was hacked, change your passwords and update everything straight away. See What to do if your website has been hacked.
