Restoring a backup yourself

You can restore from our daily backups yourself in DirectAdmin, whether you need your whole account, a database, an email account or just a few files. See Restoring from a backup.

Asking us to restore

If you'd rather we did it, open a Technical Support ticket and tell us:

  • the date you want restored
  • whether you need the whole account or only specific files, folders, databases or email accounts

Unless you ask for something specific, we restore the whole account. Restores are usually completed within one working day. The first restore we carry out for each service in a calendar month is free. Each further one that month costs RM30, invoiced before the restore. A restore needed because of a fault on our side is always free.

Our backups are a convenience, not a guarantee. Keep your own copies of anything you can't afford to lose. We can't guarantee that a backup exists for a particular date, that it's complete or that a restore will succeed.

Things that can affect a backup

  • Databases in constant use can be backed up in an inconsistent state.
  • Accounts close to their disk space or file (inode) limits may fail to back up.
  • A backup of a hacked account contains the hack too, so restore from a date before the problem started.

Keep your own backups

Download a complete backup at least once a month and before any big change to your website. It only takes a few minutes. See Creating and downloading a backup in DirectAdmin and Backing up WordPress with Softaculous.

When your account ends

When an account is terminated, its data is deleted. Existing backups are overwritten on the normal 30-day cycle and aren't restored for a closed account, so take your own backup before you cancel.
