Creating forwarders and autoresponders

Forwarders

Forwarders are included with Rise and Roar. Spark doesn't include them.

A forwarder passes email sent to one address on to another, without storing it in a mailbox. For example, you could forward sales@yourdomain.com to your own email account.

  1. Log in to DirectAdmin.
  2. Go to E-Mail Manager and click Forwarders.
  3. Click Create E-mail Forwarder.
  4. Enter the part before the @, for example sales.
  5. Enter the address to forward to. To forward to more than one address, separate them with commas.
  6. Create the forwarder.

Forwarding to Gmail, Outlook.com or Yahoo? These services sometimes treat forwarded email as spam or reject it, especially forwarded spam. For important mail, create a mailbox and add it to your email app instead. See Creating an email account.

Autoresponders

Spark includes 10 autoresponders and Rise 20. Roar has no limit.

An autoresponder sends an automatic reply to everyone who emails an address, for example to confirm you've received an enquiry.

  1. Go to E-Mail Manager and click Autoresponders.
  2. Click Create Autoresponder.
  3. Choose the email address and write your reply.
  4. Choose how often the same sender can receive the reply, so people don't get it every time they write.
  5. Create the autoresponder.

Vacation messages

A vacation message is an automatic reply that runs between dates you choose, such as while you're on leave.

  1. Go to E-Mail Manager and click Vacation Messages.
  2. Click Set Vacation Message.
  3. Choose the email address, write your message and set the start and end dates.
  4. Save the message. It switches on and off by itself.
