Your plan includes a set amount of disk space and monthly bandwidth. Here's how to check your usage and free up space.
Checking your usage
Your DirectAdmin dashboard shows your current disk space and bandwidth usage against your plan's limits. For a breakdown by domain:
- Log in to DirectAdmin.
- Go to System Info & Files and click Site Summary / Statistics / Logs.
What uses disk space
- your website files
- your email, including the trash and spam folders
- your databases
- backups you've created and left on your account
- log files
What uses bandwidth
Bandwidth is the amount of data sent from your hosting to visitors, including pages, images, videos and downloads. Bandwidth usage resets at the start of each month.
Freeing up disk space
- Delete old backups. Download them to your computer, then delete them from the
backups folder in File Manager.
- Empty your email trash and spam folders and delete old emails with large attachments.
- Remove unused WordPress plugins, themes and old media files.
- Clear old cache files created by caching or backup plugins.
What happens if you reach a limit
- Disk space full: you can't upload files, your website may show errors and incoming email may be rejected.
- Bandwidth allowance exceeded: we'll contact you before taking any action. A one-off spike is normally absorbed at no charge. If your traffic has grown steadily, we'll recommend a plan that fits rather than charging you for the extra.
If you regularly get close to your limits, see Upgrading or downgrading your hosting plan.
