Updating your domain's registrant contact details

Every domain has contact details, including the registrant, who is the domain's legal owner. Domain registries require these details to be accurate. They're also used to confirm that you own the domain.

Updating your contact details

  1. Log in to the Client Area and go to Domains.
  2. Click Manage beside the domain.
  3. Open the contact (Whois) details.
  4. Update the registrant and any other contacts, then save your changes.

Your domain contacts are separate from your PaduHost account details. Updating one doesn't change the other. See Updating your account details and email address.

Changing the registrant's name, organisation or email address

For extensions such as .com, a change to the registrant's name, organisation or email address is treated as a change of owner:

  • A confirmation email is sent to both the old and new registrant email addresses. The change only goes ahead once it's approved.
  • The domain may then be locked against transfers to another registrar for 60 days. Where your registrar allows it, you may be offered the option to opt out of this lock before you confirm.

If you change the registrant email address, you may also receive a verification email for the new address. See Why you received a domain verification email.

Transferring a domain to a new owner

To give a domain to another person or company, open a Billing ticket. We may ask both the current and new owner to confirm.

.my domains

Changes to the registrant of a .my domain follow MYNIC's rules and may need supporting documents. Open a Technical Support ticket and we'll guide you through it.
