Transferring a domain to PaduHost

Transferring your domain to PaduHost moves its registration and renewals to us, so you can manage your domain and hosting in one place. Your website and email keep working during the transfer, because a transfer doesn't change your nameservers or DNS records.

Before you start

At your current registrar, check that:

  1. The domain is at least 60 days old and hasn't been transferred in the last 60 days. Registry rules don't allow a transfer before then.
  2. The domain hasn't expired. If it expires within the next 7 days, renew it with your current registrar first.
  3. The domain is unlocked. Turn off the registrar lock (sometimes called transfer lock).
  4. You have the authorisation code, also known as the EPP code or transfer code. Your current registrar provides this.
  5. The registrant email address is correct. You may receive emails about the transfer that need your approval.

Transferring a .my domain? The process is different. See Registering a .my domain.

Starting the transfer

  1. Go to paduhost.com/domains, enter your domain and choose Transfer.
  2. Enter your authorisation code when asked and go to checkout.
  3. Pay your invoice. For most extensions, including .com, the transfer fee includes one year's renewal, which is added to your current expiry date. You don't lose any time you've already paid for.
  4. If your current registrar emails you to confirm the transfer, approve it to speed things up.

Most transfers complete within 5 to 7 days. We'll email you when the transfer is done.

After the transfer

  • Check that your website and email still work. Your nameservers stay the same unless you change them.
  • Check that your contact details are correct. See Updating your domain's registrant contact details.

Why a transfer might fail

  • The authorisation code was entered incorrectly or has expired.
  • The domain is still locked at the current registrar.
  • The domain was registered or transferred less than 60 days ago.
  • The transfer was rejected in an approval email.

If a transfer fails, we'll email you with the reason and what to do next.
