Turning on two-factor authentication for your Client Area

Two-factor authentication adds a second step when you log in: as well as your password, you enter a 6-digit code from an authenticator app on your phone. Even if someone learns your password, they can't log in without your phone.

What you need

An authenticator app on your phone, such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator.

Turning it on

  1. Log in to the Client Area.
  2. Click your name at the top right and choose Manage Account.
  3. Open the Authentication tab and tick Enable Two-Factor Authentication.
  4. Scan the QR code with your authenticator app.
  5. Enter the 6-digit code from the app, confirm your current password and save.

Logging in

After you enter your password, you'll be asked for the current code from your app. Codes change every 30 seconds. If a code isn't accepted, check that your phone sets its date and time automatically.

Changing or losing your phone

  • New phone: move your authenticator app to the new phone before you reset the old one.
  • Lost phone: contact us using the Contact Us link on paduhost.com. We'll verify your identity before turning off two-factor authentication for you.

This protects your Client Area login only. DirectAdmin has its own two-step authentication. See Turning on two-step authentication in DirectAdmin.
